Who is the RSME?

The RSME is known as the Reading Society of Model Engineers, founded in 1949. Since the beginning, we have built, maintained, and operated the outdoor Laurel Run 15-inch gauge railroad on our 25-acre site. In addition, we feature a 7.25″ and 4.75″ dual gauge outdoor railroad.

We have a two-story clubhouse that houses model train layouts, restrooms, a maintenance repair shop, and a kitchen. On the second floor of the clubhouse, we have a large “O” scale 2 rail and “On3” scale layout. The first floor of the clubhouse houses an “O” scale 3 rail layout and a “HO” scale layout.

The RSME hosts spring, fall and winter
open houses, during which all of our
railroads both outdoor and indoor are
operational. Visit the schedule for more
details and additional Laurel Run railroad
run days.

We welcome special tours for various youth
and community groups. Please contact us to
discuss and arrange your group’s visit.

We look forward to your visit!
